Things to do for The Fourth
On this wonderful Independence day both Dallas and Chicago canceled thier large displays of fireworks for budget cuts and 'public-safety' but in Kansas City fireworks remain a big part of our Fourth of July celebration! I am so excited to have a fun-filled fourth and with multitudes of celebrations going on through-out the city you can be sure to watch some spectacular firework shows! Check out my list below to help you and yours have the perfect Fourth of July watching spectacular pyrotechnic displays!
Johnson County
- Overland Park Rotary Star Spangled Spectacular: July 4, 4:00: help honor veterans and thier victories in conflict at Corporate Woods Office Park. Events begin Sunday at 4 pm and includes a live broadcast from 104.3 FM and performances from soul revue band Atlantic Express, the 35th Infantry Division Band of The Kansas National Guard, with fireworks starting at 9:30 pm. Food, beverages, and a children's area will be available. Admission is FREE!
- City of Leawood Fireworks: July 4 Fireworks set to begin at 9:45 pm at Leawood City Park! Admission is FREE!
- Village Fest: Prairie Village: July 4 Prairie Village Festival beginning at 9 am and ending at 2pm. Festival offers concerts, a pancake breakfast ($5/plate), Child ID program, Kiddie Ridges, Face Painting, and more!
- Roeland Park Fireworks: July 4 Fireworks begin at Dusk at Bishop-Miege High School
- City of Gardner Fireworks: July 4 Fireworks begin at dusk at Gardner-Edgerton Highschool. Free Admission.
- City of Olathe Fireworks: July 4 Fireworks begin at 9:30 pm at The Great Mall of The Great Plains. Free Admission!
Kansas City
- KC RiverFest: July 3-4 Held at Berkley Riverfront Park organized by Friends of the River-KC offers 2 live music stages, a kids stage, beer, barbecue, a kids zone, a marketplace, and a Zambelli fireworks show Friday and Sunday. Also, catch the first annual Canoe & Kayak Invitational Championship at 3 pm sunday. Tickets are $6 at the gate and children under 5 get in free.
Northland
- City of Independence Fireworks: July 4 Fireworks at Mormon Visitors Center beginning at dusk
- City of Gladstone Fireworks: July 4 Fireworks at Oak Grove Park beginning around 9:30-9:45
- Platte City Fireworks: July 4th Fireworks at Platte County Highschool Football Field fireworks begin around 9-9:30 pm
- Smithville Fireworks: July 4th: Fireworks at Smithville Lake beginning at dusk
- Weatherby Lake Fireworks: July 4th: Fireworks at Weatherby Lake Dam beginning after 9 pm
- Liberty 4thFest: July 4th: Fountain Bluff Sports Complex. Festivities begin at 6 pm with children's activities, and live music. Fireworks begin at 9:45 pm
- Elms Missouri Wine Festival and Fireworks: July 4th: Spend your Fourth at The Elms resort. Family fun even with music by The Dave Stephens Band, Food, lawn games and fireworks. Bring your lawn chair. Gates open at 5:30 pm with fireworks at 9:30 pm
